Anyone in these fields of study can apply for this visa provided that they have an endorsement by a recognized UK body in their respective fields.  These bodies include the Royal Society for applicants who work in the science and medical field, the Arts Council England for arts and the film and television industry, the British Academy for Social Science and Humanities, and Tech Nation for digital tech applications.  Alternatively, you may not need an endorsement if you have won any of the awards on the Global Talent eligible prize lists.

What qualifies for a global talent visa?

Before you can apply for the GTV (global talent visa), you have to obtain an endorsement showing your status as a leader in your field or maybe a potential leader in your field.

On the contrary, if you have won any eligible award, you may apply without an endorsement. I have left a link above, do well to check the list and determine if you have an award that qualifies you for this exemption.

Eligibility Criteria

Three bodies are responsible for endorsement when it comes to talent visas, they are

  • Arts Council England for arts and culture
  • Tech Nation for digital tech applications
  • Full Peer Review for Academia or Research

You must meet the specific criteria set by these endorsement bodies. There are two things these bodies consider; one is an exceptional talent and the other is an exceptional promise. For exceptional talent, you have to prove that you are a recognized leader with experience and influence.  Exceptional promise on the other hand requires you to be in the early stages of your career while having great potential to become a future leader. You must meet at least one of them to qualify for this visa.

Arts and Culture

The process is overseen by the Arts Council England, you have to prove that you are an exceptional talent or promise in the following areas;

  • Dance
  • Music
  • File and television
  • Visual arts
  • Literature
  • Fashion and design
  • Combined arts
  • Theatre

To get an endorsement from the Arts Council England, you must provide evidence of your achievements, impact, and recognition. This could be your portfolio of work, great reviews, awards, invitations to exhibitions, publications, and collaborations.

Also, you need to meet one of the following;

  • Demonstrate that you have made an impact on two countries and that they are aware of your efforts.
  • You have to prove that you have worked in your field for five years, and your work has been acknowledged internationally.
Academia or research

The process is overseen by the Full Peer Review Endorsement. You are required to;

  • Show exceptional talents or promise in Academia or research
  • Present your endorsement letter from an academic or research institution that is recognized in the UK
  • Prove that your work is recognized in the form of publication, research funding or prestigious awards won.
  • Show your potential to contribute to the UK’s innovation landscape.
Digital Technology

Tech Nation is the body that oversees endorsement for the digital tech sector. To get an endorsement, you must

  • Prove that you have what it takes to contribute to the UK digital and tech industry
  • Provide endorsement letters from tech institutions that are well-recognized in the field
  • Show evidence that you’ve got significant achievements in the tech space.

Meeting the eligibility alone will not guarantee you visa approval or endorsement. You must have a strong and compelling case that highlights your talents, achievements and potential in your felid. These are what the endorsing bodies will access your application upon.
