Los Angeles Chargers fans appear to be falling into two camps following the franchise’s inaction at the NFL trade deadline.
The first believes the Chargers should have made a move. The defense is elite, and so is Justin Herbert. Why not make a smart win-now move to give the team a better chance to compete in a weak AFC? Especially now that new general manager Joe Hortiz has been so good at building the roster?
But the second also leans on Hortiz’s strengths, pointing out that hoarding assets so he can continue making great, upside, and valuable moves is the best play. Some in this camp outright think the Chargers can’t compete for a title this year either.
Given the understandable divide, here are some of the best reactions from Chargers fans.
One fan wrote this: “Polite plea to Chargers fans: don’t bury Hortiz for holding up at the deadline. He WILL make trades with deadlines in the future. However, this year was not the best year to do that. This team is one step away from having a major impact on win totals. The biggest problems they have (IOL) need a few acquisitions and training camp to build chemistry.”
Another wrote this: “People are overreacting to the Chargers not making a trade, this is a front office and a coach that knows what they are doing…we just need to keep getting healthier. Relax.”
